Sweet looking RTR truck or as JAFO and I call it a Shuggy. The reason being is, it has a sadan chassis and its a truggy. JAFO and I made a sort of "prototype" of this for last years Monster Jam. And it actually did really well. Performed great. Now this one is even better because ours had a .15 engine. This comes with an .18 :willy Should be ****-of fast.

Is the CR01 going to have a option for a MFU unit or something?

Concerning the XBG RevStorm, is it to be considered the Mad Bison II? The Mad Bison (44025) was a TG-01 with an added spur grar to cope with the larger tires. I have two of them and they are actually a lot more fun than yoou might think.

The 801 looks interesting, but I miss two things, a TRF paintjob and some photos of the chassis so you can see what it really looks like.

No, that was just something JAnderson did on his own. Just customizing it. :first:

Its a TNS chassis, like the Mad Spirit buggy: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=43529

Missing a TRF paintjob????? What do you mean? Keep in mind that is the prototype and its a concept, so paint jobs and components may change.

No I couldn't take chassis shots because it was in the case. Besides I don't think they would want me too because that is the prototype so it has been beat up on and tweeked.

Can't release inside photos of a concept and risk having everyone copy it before it's in production!

As for the TRF paint job, that is David Jun's paint scheme .... so technically it's a TRF paint job, no??

I think he means the MS paint jobs. Those are just copies of MS' personal cars. Not really an official TRF paint scheme.

Forgot to ask. Does this mean NDF and nitrage chassis will be retired?

Larrio, or any one who knows....

What was the chassis sitting to the right of the TRF416?

It had laydown front shox mounted longitudinally ( if I remember corre4ctly). I know you wanna say TA05-IFS, but this was no plastic chassis; it was up to TRF standards....

Thanks McFig for info about the RevStorm! I must say it does have a similar layout to the TG-10 chassis too. If priced aggressively it might be a good selling car in the 1:10 segment. By the way, do you sell a lot of cars in that scale in the US? Here in Sweden most people frown upon them and write the smaller 1;10 cars off as toys and go for 1:8 scale. Perhaps Larrio could shed some light on the percentage of sold 1:10 vs. 1:8 nitro trucks?

Larrio, naturally David Jun is TRF! What I meant was the Satoshi Maezumi/Marc Rheinhardt paint schemes that Tamiya has featured on several of the product photos of the TRF cars (415,416 and 501 families) and the Durga. To a lot of people that "MS" paint job says TRF more than anything else (when viewed from afar). The paint job itself

While I understand that the 801 is still work in progress, as are many buggies/touring cars that team drivers use in EC/WC events too. The 501 design was still a prototype at the IFMAR Pre-World Championships Race 1/10 Electric Off-Road, right? I asked because you guys have made quite a big deal about the car (23 pages of speculation here, for instance) and you now have our attention. I am confident you will reward us here by releasing photos as soon as possible.

Are you going for a modular design like the Nitrage or a more conventional design? Another question I have is how you will position it compared to the Nitrage and TNX models?

A question regarding the angled engine mount. Have your team found it to have an adverse effect on engine tuning? I know many who used to race the Traxxas Revo (with proper .21-class racing engines) found the tilted motor mount to make the engine somewhat lean in right turns and slightly rich on left turns (as the engine is on the left side, angled towards the center of the car. Perhaps 15 degrees (as in the case of the 801 is now enough to have an adverse effect on engine tuning?

When is the expected release date of the 801?
/Andreas

Tamiya, like other RC companies, does not release sales numbers, so you won't get answers to those questions.

I actually don't work for Tamiya, just good friends with a number of the employees

The rest of the questions I will have to leave for Larrio, JAnderson and maybe Dave can get on here. :bump:

Chassis next to the TRF416 should be the TA05-IFS (inboard front suspension). It's based off our normal TA05 touring car chassis (4wd belt driven). We did this to replicate more realistic racing bodies since the front shock towers used to get in the way. A beneficial side effect of this is that the handling is greatly improved also.

I'm biased with the RevStorm since it's based off a body that I designed last year. :first: 1:8 nitro does seem to be more race/hobby oriented and 1:10 nitro toy based.

I'm sure we'll see a Satoshi and Rheinard paint scheme on the 801xt as we near production.

You'll start seeing us racing or testing the prototype prior to production (801xt), similar to the 501x and other 1:1 scale manufacturers (BMW/Mercedes on the Nurburgring). Photos will be released once we get the go-ahead. I'm staring at bits and pieces here in front of me waiting to be assembled (practically the production version). However it's better to be safe than sorry, so I would speculate a little longer wait until the public gets it (just consider it TRF testing for the consumer).

801xt is a racing truggy, so in a sense it shares very little similarities with the Nitrage. It would be like comparing a C-class mercedes to an SLR McLaren. I'll reveal more details as time passes. Racing truggies usually aren't modular (front what I've seen), but they are designed so that maintenance is fairly easy to accomplish with minimal tear-down.

In regards to the angled engines and tuning, it's more likely to be a fuel system problem (fuel splash, non-consistent pressure through turns, etc). For us, there were no negative effects on engine tuning with the tilted engine mount during our months of testing.
