since we always talk about re-issues lets talk about the next dicontinued model....my prediction is the clodbuster since that truck has been around ages then comes the txt probably replaced with txt 2 though since they did say it was a txt-1 model LOL.

Lol, I hope they both won't be discontinued. Because the clod I the truck that made big crawling trucks come up. And the TXT is just awesome, and I still want to buy one :P Man those are just amazing fun, have only driven with txt from other people.

I don't see the clod to be discontued. While the TXT-1 needs to redesigned (or have the body changed) and badged it as TXT-2. Just look at the wild dagger, turned Twin Detonator, Double Blaze and now Dual Hunter.

But don't do it Tamiya ! I love the TXT-1, currently I'm building my third one ! Nothing beats the TXT-1.

The Clod is already discontinued.
However the Super Clodbuster is still in production. =D At the rate these things sell I don't anticipate Japan discontinuing the kit.

The clod (super clod, still a clod) is tamiya's flagship kit. no matter how old it is (still old even with new colors) they still sell the heck outa them and when most people thinkg tamiya, they think clod. It's by far the most popular monster truck in the RC market and most likely has outsold every other monster truck by leap and bounds. (It'd be like Chevy disco'ing the Corvette)
The TXt, ya I can see that one going bu-byes. Alot of parts have been disco'ed already from what I've seen and though they are very cool trucks, and I still want one, the price is what keeps most people from purchasing one. average price is $360 for the kit vs $200 for a clod.
Now a TXT-2 would be awesome, or Super TXT (going with clod theme)

The Clod series won't be discontinued unless they run out of plastic. It's money in the bank at this point, between longivity and reputation it's an icon in itself. :first:

It could be retired if the molds are eventually overused and wear out.

I think they would just make new ones for it in that case....
I mean it's been made for 20 years now, thats impressive if it's still the original molds. Say say they wear out in like another 5 years, well that would be 25 years on 1 set of molds. Sure it'd be costly to make another set of molds but if they would, they could produce it for another 25 years. (Guinness book anybody?)
