I have a semi transmission I'm planning on using in a 1/6 scale Willys Jeep build. It will run into a Emaxx trans acting as a transfer case. I was just wondering how strong of a motor I can run through the semi trans with out it self destructing. I have a cobalt (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=131&cat=3&page=1) motor now for it or I was thinking a Novak Crawler brushless system.
Hmm, too I just realized I'll be able to post it in the hybrid section!

I've been running a 80T in it, and that worked fine.

I suppose that the gear in both the semis and High-Lifts are made of the same material. Since the High-lift can cope with brushless systems there really should not be a problem.

However, if your Jeep will be heavy it might put a large strain on the gearbox.

I'm guessing RTR weight will be around or under 15 pounds. Plus it will have further reduction from the Emaxx trans.

15lbs is nothing to worry about. ;)

My 6wd semi trks pull 60lbs+ gvw up 10 degree slopes daily. I have one trk that is a 6x4 (the rearmost axle is permantly locked) that was my daily driver for 200 days of the yr for 3yrs and the trans still works perfectly.

Believe it or not the plastic trans is pretty darn durable, only recommendation is a set of real bearings. Protrker would know, he really works these trucks.....daily! I have pulled a lot of weight with these trannies and they have held up well.

Well thank you for the endorsement Greg. :)

The 6x4 I mentioned, it has the metal bearings in the trans. To date, I don't see any wear on the top or bottom shafts and I never noticed any power differences b/c of friction loss with other trks that I did put ball bearings in.

Here's a place to purchase ball bearings cheap. It was 2-3yrs ago when I bought several 1150 bearings, I can't remember the price, but I do recall it being a fraction of what the LHS was selling them for. They carry all shapes and sizes. The pair of bearings on the front idler wheel of my german rc dozer siezed up, this site had what I needed to make the repair.
