Oh yes, that blazing blazer is my baby.
Chassis and axles have been chromed, always gets oohs and ahhs when people see it in person.
here is another shot of it (unfinished) before I put 2.2 aluminum wheels and the driver

Here's mine. I really suck in painting hard bodies. It will stay that way (primed) 'till I get someone ( a professional ) paint mine.

I think my favorite out of the series is the Mountaineer. I was never crazy about the Bruiser sleeper shell as you dont see many real Yotas with it. Although thats easily solved by hacking it off and making a tool box for the bed :)

I don't have any vintage 3-speed yet, but the hilux is by far my favourite. It has the most realistic scale looks from them all. I'm planning when the new mounty bodied 3-speed is coming to make it like the hilux, maybe make it stepside. And lower the body, so it's wheels will be nice in the fenders.

hmm, Monster Beetle. You would have a few options to make that work.
you would either have to narrow the width of the bed then add the step side fenders or
you could also just add the fenders and have some spacers manufactured to step the wheels out.
the vintage hilux was made into a step side because the rear axle had to be wider than the front axle. The rear axle had to be wider because of the HUGE radio box that held the stone age radio gear.
the narrowed mounty bed would be sweet with fender flairs!

I have all four of the vintage trucks but my favorite has to be the Mountaineer. It just looks the coolest

I should go for the narrowed bed of course, That's how the first Tamiya hilux was. But this post makes me wonder if toyota ever produced a stepside hilux...
I can find some pics on the internet from stepsides that has been made by people themselves but not right from the toyota fabric.
Anyhow, I want a stepside with narrowed bed nonetheless.

I must say the Mountaineer is my favorite.
Why?
- Since the grass is supposedly greener on the other side and I already have a Hilux4x4.

My favorite is the Hilux, mainly as it was in all the RC guides when I got my first Tamiya. And those picture of it towing the real thing and it running in the snow with snow chains. Also the most realistic with scale wheels/

You should check around, there is actual video of the 1:1 Toyota being towed by about a dozen Hilux 4x4's floating around the net. Probably on you-tube now too.

My favorite is the Mountaineer. Bought a NIB one awhile back and built it. Love it. I would rather run my highlift, though.

With the exception of the rear hubs, the Original Hilux is my favorite hands down. I love the classic look of the old Toyota 4x4. These scale builds with the bruiser bodies are simply awesome. I always thought that the big wheeled bruiser/mountaineer was a little overkill . im in the process of building a hilift, gonna try and throw some hilux leaves on it, and some 1.9 mud slingers. im thinking of going 4 link, but havent decided yet...hhmmm, im really keen on "1badjeepbruiser"'s scale build. I have wet dreams of owning a truck like that...

The ones up front is for hilift and semis?

Got to be Blazing Blazer for me, It's the one i always drooled over as a kid in hobby shop windows and tamiya catalogues.
I never got one, it was a scorcher for christmas instead! Now that prices are still sky rocketing i just cant justify spending that much money on one. So come on Mr Tamiya Re-Release it!
Or a shell for the Hi-lift kit
I know that this will never happen but hey i can still dream cos i'm still a big kid at heart.

Thats a great idea - just re release the shell like they did with the Mountaineer. I wish they would re release all the original 3 speed shells. I wonder if they still have the original molds? Is someone from Tamiya listening? I think they sold out of those limited edition re release Mountaineer bodies fairly quickly. There should be a market for this. Just release them here this time, not just in Japan! I know I would buy them.

I agree with William. The Blazing Blazer is by far the best. I am in the process of rebuilding mine. Got it off of ebay in July. Not a bad price compared to what I am seeing now. Only thing wrong is that it is a Hilux with a Blazer body. Building a King Hauler into a psuedo duece and a half right now with tank in between!!

I like the Mountie the best with the Hilux second and the Bruiser last. Don't get me wrong, I like them all but the Mountie has a special place for me.

+1 on the mountaineer. The ONLY reason I will be buying the up coming hilux hilift. Just for the whole body set. I can't afford the $350+ just for the re-released mountaineer body. Just think, they were just around $200 when they first came out just a few months ago.

Well for me, I'd say that all the three speeds are my favorites. I'm just missing the Toyota hilux. I have the blazer, bruiser, mounty, and modified bruiser/lift with custom stainless steel parts. Saving some money for the hilux, F-350, and re-hilux. rick-out

I did this with Midnight Pumpkin bed sides and a roll pan on a Clod cab for a street rod. Could easily do the same thing with a Yota cab for the Hilux look.

it's got to be the bruiser. i,ve owned mine since 1986. there is nothing like it.
it been a monster truck with grizzly tires, and had a 4-way snow plow at another point.
full lighting that turned on and off from the controller.
it also was a ne\rctpa truck puller in 4wd open 1 class with solid leaf springs and a blackfoot trans mounted side ways for the drive, it's had un godly amount of power . i single handedly distroied the class with this truck. the only thing that stoped me from pulling was the rear gear kept getting trached when pulling more than 100lbs, and rear gears were getting hard to find.
but it's a awsome truck period.:first:
and now i'm looking for my orginal chassis so i can build a crawler using it.
i still have my truck, it's now in stock form again.
and i just got a hi lift
