Hi,

I am new to the forum and I am actually looking for some information. I am looking to get my husband some bruiser and or hi-lux stuff for Christmas and need some help. He has some bruiser parts now, chassis, wheels, tires, axles, body mounts, drive shafts, bearings, body. My question is this should I try to find another bruiser for him to complete the build on the bruiser or should I look into getting the new hi-lux. If I do that can he use any of the parts he has now with the hi-lux? There is no motor or radio with his current parts so he will need that as well. I am currently just concerned with the stuff above. Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :yourock::Tamiya1:

Welcome to the forum.

The Bruiser and Hi-lift Hilux are really two different trucks. They don't share parts.

Bruisers have been discontinued for a long time, so parts are harded to come across. Hi-lift Hiluxs are current projection and you can find kits all over.

I would think he would love to finish up the Bruiser, but keep in mind that it can get pricey due to rarity of the parts. www.ebay.com and www.scale4x4rc.org are two good places to search for Bruisers for sale.

Hard to add anything to what McFig said, he's the man on this stuff. I would buy him a highlift kit, the toyota highlif hilux, or highlift Tundra version if he like the bruiser, as they are both Toyotas. Also the highlift kits are available still, and work really well. They are fun and challenging to build, so it's a good gift. You'll need to buy a 4 channel radio to go with the kit, and a 7.2v battery and charger. That's all he'll need to get it working after he builds it. It would help to buy him a screwdriver if he doesn;t have one already too.
