Possibly the most highly-modified 1838 kit ever. The tranny has been modified into a laydown configuration with a custom motor plate, E-Flite Park 400 outrunner motor and Mamba-25 speedo, cut-down Stampede tranny used as a divorced t-case. three TLT axles, one a pass-through. Montana Scale Designs BB-51 chassis, stretched six inches and mounted backwards. Four-wheel steering on the first two axles, using one servo and a Franken-linkage, which includes a Hi-Lift bellcrank. Basswood and brass bed, stock 1838 cab.

This isn't up to date, but it shows the general layout:

I've since addressed the rat's nest of wires, eliminated the receiver pack (which you can't see) in favor of a separate 4A BEC circuit, and generally tidied things up a little.
The steering servo is mounted directly under the Mamba ESC. I used a T-shaped servo horn. One leg steers the first axle; the other works the long pushrod (parallel to the frame rail, exiting in front of the air tanks), which connects to a Hi-Lift bellcrank which steers the second axle. It's a lot of monkey-motion, but I believe a scale truck has to have a chassis-mounted servo. And anyway with the axle flipped I can't mount a servo on it.
You can also see the Park400 outrunner and laydown tranny, as well as the transfer case. The driveshaft is made from two TLT-1 axle shafts and some brass bushings. The transfer case is a Stampede transmission with a locked differential. I substituted a Jato input shaft to get some extra length, and cut off the motor plate.
The custom motor plate requires cutting the side of the gearbox cover for pinion-gear clearance. I used a mystery part from one of my many M03 kits to cover the pinion.
Easy mods.
